Lewis Hamilton to Replace a Living Legend

Formula One racing superstar Lewis Hamilton will be leaving McLaren for Mercedes in a £60 million, three-year deal and will be racing for his new team in the 2013 season. His departure from McLaren was announced on September 28, 2012. Hamilton, the 2008 World Champion, has been tapped to replace legendary seven-time World Champion driver Michael Schumacher, who recently announced his second retirement from racing.

By parting ways with McLaren, Hamilton will be leaving the only team for which he has driven. McLaren was reportedly unwilling to match (more…)

Alonso versus Vettel Speeds off to Korea

Defending Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel moved within four points of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso at the top of the Drivers World Championship following the Japanese Grand Prix. This weekend sees the Korean Grand Prix giving both drivers the opportunity to gain a clear advantage in what is turning into a two horse race for the World Championship.

2012 Formula 1 Japananese Grand Prix Vettel Finishes On Top

Starting from the pole position, Sebastian Vettel won the Japanese Grand Prix, moving within four points of Fernando Alonso’s championship lead. Alonso experienced problems on the first lap of the race when he was hit by Lotus’s Kimi Raikkonen. The collision resulted in a puncture, forcing Alonso to retire prematurely from the race.

With Alonso out of the race picture, Vettel took advantage of the situation, dominating the Japanese Grand Prix from start to finish. After starting on (more…)

Team Mercedes To Have a New Look in 2013

After a dissapointing end to the 2012 Formula 1 season the AMG Mercedes team have made a number of changes to their team in an attempt to improve on results next season. The most high profile change to the team is the addition of 2008 F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton from the McLaren-Mercedes team to drive for the team next season. Alongside the addition of Hamilton former F1 World Champion Niki Lauda has been appointed non-executive chairman of team Mercedes. (more…)
